Fairlife creates new ultrafiltered milk line; Dreyer’s unveils the Rocky Road Collection; Lifeway adds new kefir products.

LACTOSE-FREE MILK

Chicago-based Fairlife LLC added a line of lactose-free milk under its new Good Moo’d brand. Made through a patented ultrafiltration process, the products bring forward the smooth, creamy and rich taste milk lovers remember and contain 25% less sugar than the leading lactose-free milk. Good Moo’d’s ultrafiltration approach, paired with the addition of the lactase enzyme, removes all lactose without compromising the creamy, natural taste of milk, Fairlife says. The milk is available now at select grocery and retail stores in the Northeast, mid-Atlantic, Southeast and West Coast regions of the United States.

SINGLE-SERVE CHEESE SNACK PACKS

Schuman Cheese added portable single-serve pairings under its Cello brand. Cello Snack Packs debuted at the second iteration of Specialty Food Association Live! on Jan. 19-22, 2021. According to the Fairfield, N.J.-based company, the addition to the Cello portfolio provides consumers with a personalized portion of Cello’s award-winning Fontal and Copper Kettle cheeses in combination with dried fruit and roasted nuts. With concerns around food safety at a high, the single-serve enclosed packs will further serve as an added convenience for cheese lovers everywhere.

ROCKY ROAD ICE CREAM COLLECTION

Edy’s and Dreyer’s, brands of Oakland, Calif.-based Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream Inc., say they unveiled the Rocky Road Collection, which features six decadent flavors loaded with delicious and indulgent mix-ins. The collection is in tribute to O.G. Rocky Road, which was created by the brands’ founders, William Dreyer and Joseph Edy. The six flavors being introduced as part of the Rocky Road Collection include three already-existing flavors: The Original Rocky Road, Mocha Almond Avenue and Chocolate Peanut Butter Park. New flavor introductions include Salted Caramel Pretzel Path, Brownie Brick Road and Cookie Cobblestone. The flavors have a suggested retail price of $5.99 for a 1.5-quart carton; Brownie Brick Road also is available in a 14-ounce container with a suggested retail price of $2.99.

FUNCTIONAL KEFIR SHOTS, GRASS-FED KEFIR

Morton Grove, Ill.-based Lifeway Foods Inc. added two new lines to its collection of kefir products: 3.5-ounce functional shot multipacks and organic grass-fed kefir. As extensions of its kefir portfolio, these new items support Lifeway’s ongoing mission to support overall health from the inside out, the company says. The functional shots are available in four flavors: Mango, Strawberry, Strawberry Banana and Mixed Berry. Each bottle has 60 calories, 4 grams of protein and 1 gram of fat. The organic grass-fed kefir contains added prebiotic fiber for a symbiotic boost. The line is available in 32-ounce bottles in Plain, Vanilla, Strawberry and Mango flavors.

BUTTER WITH OLIVE OIL

Evanston, Ill.-based Kerrygold USA, part of Dublin-headquartered Ornua, introduced Kerrygold Irish butter with olive oil. The offering is made with the milk from Irish grass-fed cows and marries the distinct taste of Kerrygold butter with olive oil. Free from artificial flavors or preservatives, Kerrygold Irish butter with olive oil is made with milk rich in naturally occurring beta-carotene, which is present in the lush green Irish grass that Kerrygold cows enjoy year-round. This gives Kerrygold butter its robust, natural golden color and creamy texture, with no added growth hormones or antibiotics. According to Kerrygold, this new butter offering stays true to the company’s tradition of producing all-natural dairy products from the milk from 14,000 small, family-run Irish dairy farms.

FROZEN NOVELTIES

Outshine launches dairy-based novelties; Van Leeuwen Ice Cream creates dairy and nondairy bars; Turkey Hill adds 16 new frozen novelties.

DAIRY-BASED FROZEN NOVELTIES

Oakland, Calif.-based Outshine launched Outshine Simply Indulgent bars — a new line of dairy-based frozen snacks. Made with fresh milk to give a burst of creamy flavor in every bite, Simply Indulgent bars have 5 grams of protein per bar, 25% less sugar than regular frozen dairy bars and a simpler ingredient label — making them an indulgence that consumers can feel good about, Outshine says. The line’s varieties include Strawberry and Mango, which are made with real fruit, and Chocolate and Coffee, Outshine’s first nonfruit flavors. In fact, Simply Indulgent Coffee bars provide a little boost with 20 milligrams of caffeine — about one-fourth the amount in a cup of coffee — in every bar, Outshine says. The bars are packaged in six-count single-flavor boxes that have a suggested retail price of $4.69.

INDULGENT FROZEN NOVELTIES

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, New York, created Van Leeuwen bars, a line of indulgent dairy and vegan frozen treats inspired by classic favorites. The line includes three dairy flavors and three vegan flavors. The offerings are made from the same premium, simple ingredients for which Van Leeuwen is known. According to the company, the line’s dairy bars are available in Vanilla Caramel Swirl, Toffee Brown Sugar and Raspberry Cheesecake flavors; the “oat milk”-based offerings are Vanilla Wildberry Swirl, Brown Sugar Honeycomb and Triple Chocolate Swirl. Van Leeuwen bars are now available in four-packs through Van Leeuwen’s online store for nationwide shipping. The bars are also available in select grocery stores across the country, including Whole Foods Market, Giant, Central Market, Big Y and Heinen’s.
