Londonderry, N.H.-based Stonyfield Organic says it teamed up with Blaine, Wash.-based Nature’s Path Foods’ EnviroKidz — an organic kids’ cereal brand — to expand its line of popular kids’ products. The new Stonyfield Organic kids’ yogurt with Nature's Path EnviroKidz cereal toppers comes in two varieties: Strawberry Yogurt & Choco Chimps and Vanilla Yogurt & Koala Crisp. The offerings contain 25% to 35% less sugar than the leading yogurt with toppings while also providing 10 grams of protein per serving. The product is kid-friendly, with its great taste and fun format, and mom-friendly, as it is free from toxic persistent pesticides and made with always organic and non-GMO ingredients. Stonyfield Organic Kids Toppers are available at select Kroger, Safeway, HEB, Walmart and Whole Foods Market locations nationwide. The yogurts are sold in a four-pack format with a suggested retail price of $6.49.
Moocho, Hood River, Ore., says it launched its new dairy-free Moocho “cheese” shreds in H-E-B stores throughout Texas, with more retailers to come in early 2021. The shreds are available in flavors such as Mozzarella, Cheddar and Fiesta Blend; they are crafted with simple ingredients and apply fermented cultures and aging techniques used in traditional cheesemaking. Moocho shreds are vegan, 100% non-GMO and gluten-free, and they contain 0% cholesterol. The offerings are made to melt and stretch as well as traditional dairy-based cheese. The shreds come in 8-ounce bags and have a suggested retail price of $4.99.
Danone North America, based in Broomfield, Colo., and White Plains, N.Y., says its Two Good yogurt brand is tackling food waste with the introduction of its Two Good Good Save product line. In partnership with Full Harvest, Two Good Good Save uses Verified Rescued Produce to create lower-sugar yogurt products with the goal of reducing food waste at the farm level. The offering is the first dairy line to utilize 100% Verified Rescued Produce. The initial offering features Meyer lemons that would otherwise have been wasted due to overproduction, a lack of secondary markets for the farmer or cosmetic blemishes. Two Good Good Save has 2 grams of sugar per serving, which is 80% less than average Greek yogurt.
Chobani, Norwich, N.Y., debuted a full portfolio of Chobani Probiotic yogurts and drinks, kids’ pouches and shakes, and nondairy functional beverages with immunity-supporting probiotics. Chobani says the Chobani Probiotic yogurts and yogurt drinks have a diverse blend of scientifically confirmed probiotic strains with multiple benefits for immune, digestive and gut health, bringing a proactive approach to a new generation of probiotic consumers. Chobani Probiotic yogurt cups are available in Blueberry, Vanilla, Strawberry and Peach; Chobani Probiotic yogurt-based drinks are available in Raspberry Acai, Blueberry Pomegranate and Passion Orange Guava. Organic Valley says its new low-fat chocolate milk hit the shelves in January. The offering has a kid-friendly taste and lactose-free formulation. Organic Valley uses only 100% organic ingredients. According to the La Farge, Wis.-based cooperative, the low-fat chocolate milk offers the same nutrition and pasture-raised goodness as its regular milk. Each serving of the product contains essential nutrients such as vitamins A and D and 8 grams of high-quality protein. Nutrient-rich, the ultrapasteurized milk comes from cows that are raised with the highest animal care standards. Organic Valley’s farmers never use toxic pesticides, antibiotics, GMOs or synthetic hormones. The milk has a suggested retail price of $5.29 to $5.99 for a half-gallon carton.
Graeter’s Ice Cream, Cincinnati, and food technology company Perfect Day, Berkeley, Calif., teamed up to launch Perfect Indulgence — Graeter’s first-ever line of vegan frozen desserts using Perfect Day’s innovative animal-free “dairy” protein. These products are available online at graeters.com and in Graeter’s scoop shops. Graeter’s says it is launching Perfect Indulgence with six of its traditional flavors: Black Cherry Chocolate Chip, Cookies & Cream, Oregon Strawberry, Mint Chocolate Chip, Chocolate and Chocolate Chip. Graeter’s plans to release additional flavors, including Madagascar Vanilla Bean, in the future.
Portland, Ore.-based Wheyward Spirit launched a sustainably sourced whey spirit. The company says it services small farms by sourcing only from domestic dairies that create the spirit’s signature flavor of oaky hints of vanilla cream and warm spice notes, rounded with a subtle pear aroma. Emily Darchuk, founder and CEO of the Wheyward Spirit, was mentored by Stonyfield Farm’s co-founder Gary Hirshberg. The whey-based spirit comes in a 750-milliter bottle with a suggested retail price of $56.99. It is available in select retail stores in California and is able to ship to 31 states.
Danone North America says its Silk brand unveiled its latest plant-based product innovation — Silk Kids “almondmilk” yogurt alternative. The new yogurt alternative is fortified with calcium and vitamin D to help support strong bones and has 25% less sugar per ounce (1.75 grams) than the average of other flavored yogurt alternatives (2.4 grams). The yogurt alternative is also peanut-free, gluten-free, lactose-free and Non-GMO Project Verified. It comes in three flavors, including Mixed Berry, Apple Cinnamon and Strawberry, and will be available at select retailers starting this month.
The Big Cheese, a new cheese company based in Plymouth, Wis., launched its e-commerce website, https://thebigcheese.com, offering a premium 12- to 15-year aged Wisconsin cheddar cheese direct to customers. The company says it specializes in 40-pound ($299), 5-pound ($99) and 2.5-pound ($49) blocks of premium aged cheddar cheese. The Big Cheese was created to move a special supply of sharp cheddar from farm to table.
