Jeff Mroz, co-founder of Pioneer Pastures, joins Dairy Foods for Episode 61 of the “Let’s Talk Dairy” podcast. He discusses A2 milk and his company.

Mroz, along with Kathryn Moos, founded Pioneer Pastures, a health company rooted in using ultra-filtered milk from cows with the A2 gene. Drawing on their success building OWYN (Only What You Need) into a nationally recognized protein brand, in 2024 they launched Bozeman, Mont.-based Pioneer Pastures to help reshape the future of food by prioritizing gut health, accessible nutrition and dairy innovation.

The former professional athletes and husband-and-wife team have three young kids and created Pioneer Pastures after learning that chocolate milk is the most consumed product in our nation’s school system.

During this podcast, Mroz talks about the following topics:

  • His life before becoming a company founder as a Yale and football quarterback.
  • What inspired him to found OWYN, which the Simply Good Foods Co. acquired on June 13, 2024.
  • After building a plant-based brand, why he changed focus to a dairy product called Pioneer Pastures.
  • Why he decided to use A2 milk for Pioneer Pastures.
  • Where Pioneer Pastures sources its A2 milk.
  • How Pioneer Pastures’ products have been received and growth outlook through 2026.
  • What trends he has seen in A2 milk over recent years, and why demand is growing. DF
