A MEXICAN SMOOTHIE FOR THE MASSES

LALA U.S. introduced authenic licuados — traditional Mexican breakfast smoothies containing milk, fruit and oats — to dairy cases in Walmart and Hispanic-specialty grocers. The new products are available in three flavors: Papaya, Mango-Carrot and Vanilla Honey. Each bottle features 8 grams of protein and is a good source of fiber and vitamins A and D, the company says. Licuados are a classic Mexican beverage, serving as a quick nutritious breakfast at home or more commonly on the run where people stop for one at juice and licuado stands. Licuados are blended like smoothies but are not as thick. The launch of the LALA Licuados is the latest in a series of new cheese and dairy products offered by the Dallas, Texas-based company, each featuring the authentic taste of Mexican kitchens. Dessert yogurt smoothies, fruit and crema desserts and three traditional Mexican cheeses recently were added to the company’s lineup of yogurt smoothies, yogurts, Mexican crema and milk.

CREAMIER ICE CREAM

Tillamook County Creamery Association (TCCA) brought back its Partnership for Creamier Ice Cream (PCIC) for another summer of fun. Founded in 2021, the PCIC is on a mission to ensure every scoop and cone of ice cream has more cream and better ingredients. Leading the charge on PCIC’s mission to convert everyone to the “extra creamy side” is actress, comedian and author, Jenny Slate. Slate stars in a new digital advertising campaign for the Tillamook, Ore.-based dairy, which is running across connected TV, digital video, social, search and out of home, the company says. Since 1947, TCCA has been making ice cream with more cream than industry standards, producing nearly 30 extra creamy Tillamook Ice Cream flavors, including Old-Fashioned Vanilla, Cookies & Cream, Oregon Strawberry, and Tillamook Mudslide. This year, TCCA added the rich, buttery, and even a little salty Butter Pecan to its portfolio. TCCA ice creams are made with rBST-free milk and no artificial flavors or preservatives. Tillamook ice creams are available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $6.99 per half-gallon carton.

A PLANT-BASED, MELTY “CHEESE”

Saputo Dairy USA added new plant-based, dairy-free cheeses to its portfolio that it says offers great taste, texture, visual appeal and melting performance. The new lineup, Vitalite is available in six varieties: Plant-Based Mozzarella Style Slices; Plant-Based Mozzarella Style Shreds; Plant-Based Cheddar Style Slices; Plant-Based Cheddar Style Shreds; Plant-Based Grated Parmesan Style; and Plant-Based Creamy Original Spread. The company has teamed up with “That '70s Show” actress Laura Prepon, who is an ambassador for the brand. “I like to live a flexitarian lifestyle and it wouldn’t be possible without the right ingredients. That’s why Vitalite plant-based cheeses have become a staple in our home,” Prepon says, noting that her children have sensitivities to dairy, so she uses Vitalite plant-based cheese for basics like grilled cheese and quesadillas, as well as in more in-depth recipes like black bean and quinoa burgers stuffed with cheddar-style cheese. Saputo’s vegan-certified, dairy-free cheeses are available at retailers nationwide, making it an ideal option for favorite dishes like pizza, pasta, tacos, sandwiches, salads, dips, desserts and more, it says.
